The Magic Competition Rules
Welcome to the first of what will hopefully be a long future of Magic Contests!
It’s very important, that before you start posting you read these rules – blatant disregard of them will simply result in disqualification from the current contest (and possibly future contests).
This is how the system works. If you want to enter the completion you post one topic in the contest forum – it will have your name then the name of your trick. You may only have one trick - no multiple trick posting/nor multiple tricks in one video. Just the one trick. The trick doesn’t have to be homemade; although if it is, make sure you choose a name you’re happy with. For example, let’s say I wanted to perform Lee Asher’s “Witness”, my topic would be called:
“Faze – Witness”
Now, within that topic please use the following format.
Trick Name:
Trick Author:
Video:
Any Other Comments:
Here’s an example, once again using Witness, if I wanted to enter.
Trick Name: Witness
Trick Author: Lee Asher
Video: Link to my Video (please try to post your videos up on YouTube or any other video sharing site, rather than uploading it as a downloadable file).
Any Other Comments: Took me a while to perfect this, but I choose it because of the strong reactions, and the enjoyment I have when performing it.
If any other topics are made, they will simply be deleted – if I have to do this, I will send a PM explaining why.
Once that topic is made, anyone can comment on the video within that topic. Three days before the end of the month, a poll will be put up. I will collect every person and their trick, put it up in that poll, and the public will vote over the course of the next two days. Contestants are also able to vote. Then the top two people go forward, and the winner is then decided, from those two, by last month’s contest winner. Obviously, because we don’t have a winner at the moment, Cartess will play that person’s role – he will decide the winner out of the top two voted.
Obviously, each month has a different theme. The theme will be made clear in the forum title. If you enter tricks which aren’t part of that theme, then they’ll be deleted. Each time a monthly contest starts, there may well be specifications for the performance (e.g. might need a spectator, or have to be performed on the street). If there are no specifications, made within the contest forum, then it’s up to you; might be easier to just perform for the camera. Video editing isn’t allowed - although transitions are acceptable. Please also note, that in every video, there must be some link to this forum - just on the introduction, or after the trick; it must be clear that this is a http://www.freemagicschool.com competition.
You don’t have to enter these competitions; you can just watch the videos and vote! It will hopefully be a good way of learning technique, as well as seeing tricks you might want to learn and practise.
Now, as we know, all good competitions require prizes. Other than a Winner of the Month award, there will be a prize in the FreeMagicSchool shop up for grabs. This might not be every month, but the prizes will be made clear within the forum.
Thanks for reading – if you have any further questions please contact me via Personal Message.
Have fun,
Faze
