hey, this is reuben, the other magician in the westmount magic series.

id just like to say to eveyrone here that we are just school performers, magicians, and im sorry---but this forum, free magic school, is for N00BS. ALL N00BS, so for you guys to be criticizing us? thats wrong. take a good look at your forum, wow-- videos on double lifts, snap changes and shapeshifters, simplest moves in magic. to criticize us is completely wrong. we try hard to perform for people every day, and even if the trick is simple, it is 95% presentation. you think its easy, you post a video of you doing a SIMPLE trick for grade 11s and 12s, and get the same reaction. 'theyre all simple tricks', yes, but i can guarantee we have a lot more experience with presentation than you n00bs. learn something more complex like the diagonal palm shift (which is even still easy), then come talk.

hope you enjoyed my rant, GO MAGIC CANADA! , Reuben

*sigh*

why are you so angry? i don't get it, well, i'm not the kind of guy that gets upset by that kind of stuff, so i don't understand your anger, but well, the only thing i think would be considered a little offensive is M1ND_G4ME's comment, but not even enough to get upset like that.
well, back on topic, this forum, full of noobs? well, you don't know everybody so you can't say that, i know who i am, i'm surely not a noob.
you can't say that you have more experience in presentation than some of the people here as said before, you don't know anyone here do you?
and by the way, how old are you kid?
i don't wanna transform this into a fight, nor a unconfortable enviroment so don't count me in for that.

Ok Micheal I see you have some posts on this site and you have been here for a little while so you probably know that everyone take criticism.
Just chill out, big whoop you get some constructive criticism everyone here does that is how you learn.
Yes and I know Reuben most of it is presentation, you have good presentation.
But that is just putting us down when you say we are all newbs you should check out some peoples vids on here, yay they might not be in public but that does not mean we are newbs.

A little harsh there, Reuben!

I honestly accept your comments with a pinch of salt... some I do not agree with quite obviously, but any constructive critisism is noted and we will try to improve any videos in the future.

i think reuben exaggerated, but he was angry because of some comments there, i forgive anyone who is angry, you see, anger is not something easy to control by the human brain so it's ok.
people say and do the most stupid things when they're angry.
honestly, your videos had very good performances, nothing extraordinary, but i say that because i do magic, and know those tricks, i have gotten reactions like that, and i know that at first it wasn't easy, but it becomes easier and the reactions get better with experience, you both have this, but reuben, don't get cocky, it's not a big deal.
i'd like to add too, that Michael is better than reuben, you can tell he's more experienced and has better presention.
i hope both of you a good future with WestMount Magic.
but i insist, how old are you both?

wow, i started this thread, and i dont want an argument!
Both Micheal and Reuben are great magicians, and great preformers!
Mikeoo92, your always talking about presentation and you have to aggree that these two are great at it!
And as for this site being all noobs, thats a half truth!
I'll admit this site is primarily noobs due to the fast there are some 13 thousand members most of wich who have never posted. And the rest remain a mystery. Teddy is probably the only person on this forum who i can for sure say is not a noob.

so micheal, improove based on this!
right now!
dont be so hate-able!
be less boring!
be a better preformer!
dont let your hands lock up!
Make it more obvious what your doing with your trick!
Buy a new camera!
Be more fast!
...
not exactly very specific, were you?
you could have said something like
"It was hard to tell what was going on during the diamond trick, dew to hard to see camera angles. And try to be more fluid with your hand movements, you got a little locked up"

i thought one of the "rules and guidelines" was NOT to mindlessly attack people...

And hey, I understand about my Diamond effect... but think about it, if YOU had something that huge palmed underneath a dek of cards your hand would not exactly look great either. It's really unavoidable and that effect is admittedly not the best for the camera... I admit it was rather hard to follow due to the need to constantly move the hands.

First of all it's not allowed to double post. You should edit your last post. Second this was construction critisism. If you are just here, to say that we all suk and are noobs, you should leave. Some people here are way better magicians than you guys. If this topic stays like this ill lock it.

I enjoyed the tricks. Both of you. I can't say I'm better or anything. Preforming live in front of people you don't know.

And becouse the double lifts are important in magic, you need to learn them.

Honestly, we didn't mean to call you "newbs" or anything of the sort. Our first magic videos do not even begin to showcase our skills so please, consider the future and what I said previously. Reuben's a great magician considering how long he has been into it and I also hope I am above average too :).

Anyways, I apologize for our behaviour before, however my opinion still stands.. in my experiences here some of the members don't have a lot of credibility or validity to have the authority to dish out critisisms. Can any of you here hold a conversation on topics of magic theory and psychology? My guess is, no. It's not all about the tricks and methods, far from it... to me, they are only a small part of magic. It seems as though a lot of members here only focus on the "tricks" and that is far from okay. Just because I spend a lot of time on other magic topics, it doesn't mean my technique is flawed... in fact, since I began to study theory, it has never been better!

Like I said before, Reuben and I are limited when it comes to huge crowds. Our sleight of hand and manipulation just will not play well for a 360 degree-viewing audience, many of which will not even be able to appreciate what we are doing because personally, using effects like Juan Tamariz's Mnemonica System or the work of Aaron Fisher is REALLY advanced in sleight of hand and REALLY heavy in personal performance. When a huge crowd congregates, we resort to the visual, painstakingly easy stuff that is drastically increased reaction-wise by our powerful, personal presentations.

See, I'm gonna stick my little head where it's not allowed right now. Your so-called great tricks are limited? No! YOU limit yourself to the tricks. I've done magic in my local mall, highest crowd was about 25 people, and I was able to perform Witness, with people around me 24/7. You guys are the ones limiting yourself, not the crowd. If you say you're good, go and practice on bigger crowds. Fail a trick or 2? So what. Learn from it. I hate that you to are on your high horse and can only SAY you do big tricks, but never performed them. Pewpew. I really don't see why you guys even come here anymore. Besides, you think that we're lame, Reuben? Check out the tricks we've all been preacticing, in the Tutorial Section. THen try and act tough on our forums. You don't even know half the stuff that goes on here, yet you think you do. You're the noob, IMO. I would love to see these complex advanced tricks of yours. And I'd love to see those amazing tricks you've said you've been making, Kras. Got nothing? Then just leave. But before you leave, just freakin take our criticism to heart and LEARN FROM IT. Don't try and act tough by coming to these forums and attempt to show off. Cause it ain't gonna work. Ever. If you guys are through, then goodbye. But if you wanna stay here and argue, so be it, you're not gonna win. All we're trying to do is have fun, and give you guys things to work off of. If you wanna come here and mock that, be prepared to get showed up. You guys coulda said, "Thanks, we'll try to work on it to the best of our abilities," instead of going off like Reuben did. Kras, I respect you for being mature about this, to SOME extent, but Reuben, we don't even need you here if that's all you're gonna say.

Peace. Sorry if that sounded harsh, but I gotta lay down my thoughts.
